Mahabharata is an ancient Epic of Hindu Religion. In this the story revolves around two branch Kauravas & Pandavas of the Kuru dynasty.Who fought a war with each other for the dynastic succession and the throne of Hastinapur.The Kauravas were 100 brothers who were led by Duryodhan they were the son of the king of Hastinapur Dhritarashtra.
On the other hand Pandavas were 5 brothers who were:
Yudhishtira- he was the eldest son of king Pandu (brother of Dhritarashtra).He used to blindly follow Dharma and believed what was told by Saints.
Bhima- he was the second son of king Pandu and mata Kunti.He was the slayer of most of the kauravas in the Kurukshetra war, Bhima physically had power of 10,000 elephants.
Arjuna- he was the third son of Pandu and was central character in the epic. He was known to be a great archer. He was assisted by Lord Krishna in the Kurukshetra war
Nakula & Sehdeva- they were the fourth and the fifth son of Pandu respectively and their mother was Madri.
Other major characters:
Shree Krishna Vasudeva- Shree Krishna is a major god in Hinduism. He was the son of Devaki & Vasudev and was born in prison in Mathura. He is worshipped as the 8th incarnation of Lord Vishnu.He was usually seen with a flute in his hand and a peacock feather on his head. He was a joyful and gentle personality with always smiling face. He was well known for his teachings of Bhagwata Geeta which teaches us about the real meaning of life. While fighting the Kurukshetra war Arjuna had many doubts in his mind at that time Shree Krishna showed him the way and helped him win the Kurukshetra war only by his lessons. Nowadays the birthday of Shree Krishna is celebrated with bliss and joy as Krishna Janmashtami
Bhishma Pitamah- he was the 8th son of king Shantanu & river goddess Ganga. He was known for his oath of celibacy. He was blessed with a boon which enabled him to decide his time of death.
Draupadi- she was the main female character of the epic. She was the daughter of king of Panchal Drupad. She was rose up from the middle of sacrificial fire.
Karna- he was the first son of Kunti before Pandavas. He was born spiritually by Surya. He was a great archer
Guru Dronacharya- he was the third incarnation of Lord Brahma.He was the royal guru of Kauravas & Pandavas.
Lord Parshuram- he was the sixth incarnation of Lord Vishnu. He is considered as Chiranjivi (Immortal). The people he trained became best of the world warriors. He was born to destroy the evil kings from the earth. He used to worship Lord Shiva.
